Oklahoma commit named National Player of the Week
Oklahoma's softball dynasty doesn't appear to be slowing down any time soon.
With just two weeks left in the regular season, the Sooners find themselves at the top of the polls. They've won four of the last five national championships, finishing third last year and are the favorites again this season. Maybe next, too, if their recruiting class plays collegiately like its playing on the preps level.
This week, OU commit Finlee Williams was named Softball America High Player of the Week. The Melissa High (Texas) outfielder went 7 for 7 in wins over McKinney North and Walnut Grove. She hit two doubles, a triple, four home runs and collected 13 RBIs.
Williams the No. 3 player in the nation in the Class of 2027. She committed to OU in the fall of 2025, joining the No. 2 player in the class, Goose Hutchens in the Sooners' commitment pool, giving coach Patty Gasso the top-ranked recruiting class in the country for 2027 so far.
Oklahoma sits at 43-6 overall and 15-3 in the Southeastern Conference, tied with Alabama, which ranks No. 2 nationally, with two series left. The Sooners will host Georgia on Friday through Sunday in the final home series of the season, then will close out the regular season at Texas A&M the following weekend. The Aggies trail Oklahoma and Alabama by one game in the standings.
