Avery Michael, a three-star offensive tackle, has committed to the Oregon Ducks, ending his recruitment. His decision follows a series of commitments to the Ducks, including two four-star edge rushers.
Recruiting battles tend to really pick up in spring and summer, with teams scheduling visits for top recruits and momentum swinging back and forth. The Oregon Ducks are currently involved in plenty of recruitments just like that, but it always feels good to have a recruit commit and end their recruitment before the fall begins.
For the third time this week, that was the case for an Oregon commitment. Three-star offensive tackle Avery Michael announced the end of his recruitment on Saturday, locking in with the Ducks after other programs turned up the heat. He joins four-star edge rushers Zane Rowe and Cam Pritchett, both of whom shut down their recruitments and pledged their allegiance to the Ducks last week.
Michael, the No. 32 offensive tackle in the 2027 class per Rivals, committed to the Ducks on February 1, alongside four-star offensive tackle Drew Fielder. Since Fielder flipped to USC, the Ducks have put in an extra effort to keep Michael as part of their class. Michael did pick up an offer from LSU and took a visit to Nebraska, but a trip to Eugene this past week solidified his feelings about the Ducks.
Although the Ducks are littered with blue-chip recruits, Michael is a three-star player who matters a ton to the coaching staff. Michael was recently named the Rivals San Francisco Elite Camp OL MVP, perhaps foreshadowing a potential rise up the rankings for the Turlock, California, native if his performance continues to improve. He could add a fourth star with a strong senior season and an impressive summer.
The 6-foot-5 tackle is currently the only offensive lineman the Ducks have committed to their class, which ranks No. 9 nationally, per Rivals, but the Ducks are involved in several recruiting races for other talented linemen. Oregon was named a finalist for four-star tackles Jake Hildebrand and , and things are also heating up for the Ducks with five-star Kennedy Brown and four-star Ismael Camara.
Avery Michael is a three-star offensive tackle and is ranked as the No. 32 offensive tackle in the 2027 class by Rivals.
In addition to Avery Michael, four-star edge rushers Zane Rowe and Cam Pritchett also recently committed to the Oregon Ducks.
Avery Michael's commitment was influenced by a recent visit to Eugene and the Ducks' efforts to retain him after another recruit, Drew Fielder, flipped to USC.

With Michael locked in, he likely won't be taking any more visits or entertaining other offers, and he should be a big advocate for the Ducks as they hope to add to the class in the coming months.
