The Oregon Ducks are ranked No. 8 in USA Today's post-spring top 25 college football rankings, surprisingly low given their talent. They sit just behind the Oklahoma Sooners and ahead of the Ole Miss Rebels.
Coming out of the spring football season in Eugene, one of the biggest takeaways was how much sheer talent the Oregon Ducks have. On both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball, Dan Lanning's team seems to be stacked, with a mix of proven veterans and high-upside underclassmen paving the way for what looks like it should be a highly successful season.
USA TODAY doesn't seem to see it that way, though.
In their latest post-spring top-25 rankings of the college football landscape, USAT has Oregon outside of the top five, and barely inside the top-10 rankings nationwide. The Ducks land at No. 8 on the list, just behind the Oklahoma Sooners, and just ahead of the Ole Miss Rebels. Here's a look at the top 10.
The Oregon Ducks are ranked No. 8 due to perceived underestimation of their talent despite having a strong roster.
The teams ranked above the Oregon Ducks include Ohio State, Notre Dame, Georgia, Texas, and Indiana.
Factors include the mix of proven veterans and underclassmen, though USA Today seems to view their talent differently than other analysts.
The Trail Blazers were eliminated in the first round by the Spurs, but they show promise with valuable fantasy assets. Key players like Deni Avdija and Donovan Clingan had standout seasons, making them worth targeting for future drafts.

Here's how USAT justified the ranking:
"Getting another year from junior Dante Moore is huge for the Ducks, even if theyâve got another five-star passer waiting in the wings in Nebraska transfer Dylan Raiola. With a wildly talented roster keyed by strong quarterback play, line depth, and impressive additions such as former Minnesota safety Koi Perich, Oregon is built for title contention after notching 26 wins over the past two seasons. The biggest question centers on how capably Dan Lanning can promote from within to replace both of last yearâs coordinators."
Of course, there are several questions that this team will have to answer in the coming months, including how the offensive line replaces three starters, how the coordinators on both sides step into new roles, and how they manage a tough road schedule that features trips to Los Angeles and Columbus.
Still, though, it appears that the Ducks have one of the most talented rosters in the nation going into the season, and USA TODAY appears to be far lower than consensus on where Oregon stands.
