The Oregon Ducks and Oregon State Beavers baseball game scheduled for Tuesday night has been postponed due to bad weather. Both teams are currently working to reschedule the rivalry matchup.
When you're playing baseball in the Pacific Northwest, sometimes Mother Nature will get the final say.
The Oregon Ducks and Oregon State Beavers have decided to postpone their scheduled Tuesday night matchup in Hillsboro due to inclement weather in the forecast. Both programs are working to find a date to reschedule the rivalry, according to Oregon State athletic communications.
The Ducks were hoping to even the season series after dropping a game earlier this season in Eugene to the Beavers. Oregon State emerged victorious on March 3 at PK Park after getting to the Ducks' bullpen and holding on for a 10-6 win.
The Beavers have since jumped to No. 6 in the national rankings, while the Ducks have fluctuated after a recent slump and sit at No. 19. However, the Ducks are fresh off a ranked-series win over Nebraska and seem to have figured out some of their woes at the plate.
Rain is in the forecast all day Tuesday and Wednesday in Hillsboro, meaning it's unlikely the game will be played this week, barring a creative solution and agreement from both programs. The Ducks and Beavers were set to square off for the second time this season at the new Hillsboro Hops Ballpark in a game being billed as the "Northwest Elite Baseball Classic."
The Ducks are headed east to face Illinois in a weekend series, so moving the game to Wednesday or Thursday, if weather permits, could complicate their travel schedule. The Ducks are set to face the Beavers in Corvallis next week on April 21, so the game could be moved to Tuesday to create a two-game midweek series, or played on Wednesday as a midweek doubleheader.
This story will be updated once an announcement is made with a rescheduled date for the game.
