The Baltimore Orioles aren't having the best season this year, as they're 17-20 and have plenty of injury issues plaguing the roster.
While it's not looking likely at the moment, there is a chance that come the MLB Trade Deadline, the Orioles will wind up as sellers once more. And if they do sell, they have a few interesting options.
One of those possible trade chips, according to Jim Bowden of The Athletic, is lefty All-Star starting pitcher Trevor Rogers. Starters always fetch strong interest at the deadline, and Rogers is a name to watch. However, there might be an issue.
"His career has featured many peaks and valleys," Bowden writes, "but if he can get back to last year's form, and if the Orioles continue to struggle and fall out of postseason contention, playoff hopefuls will monitor him closely since he's eligible for free agency in the offseason."
There are two issues the Orioles need answers to for Rogers to be dealt. First, the Orioles need to become sellers, and that would mean they falter down the stretch ahead of the deadline.
The Orioles face hurdles in finding a trade suitor for Trevor Rogers due to his volatile performance and the team's current struggles.
Trevor Rogers has a 4.75 ERA, which is significant as it reflects his inconsistent performance, impacting his trade value.
The Orioles currently have a 17-20 record and are dealing with multiple injuries affecting their roster.

They may fall out of the postseason race this year, but it's well within reality for Baltimore to stay in contention, even if only for a Wild Card spot. In such a scenario, they might not sell anyone unless they're doing so to add elsewhere.
The other issue the Orioles would need to overcome, even if they are sellers, would be for Rogers to turn things around after coming off the injured list due to an illness.
He has a 4.75 ERA this season and has had plenty of struggles in his career. But the ceiling he's shown, with his 1.81 ERA in 18 starts last year, Rogers has a chance to turn his season around this year.
If he can do that, while the Orioles as a team struggle, the teams might be able to acquire Rogers from the Orioles.
Those are two significant hurdles that will need to be cleared for Rogers to be traded, and while not impossible, it's very much an uncertain situation for the Orioles this year.
