Green Bay Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst checked boxes at cornerback and defensive tackle during Day 2 and will now go into Saturday's Day 3 with five more picks to make and no more pressing needs. The Packers stayed put and picked Brandon Cisse in the second round and then traded up to get Chris McClellan in the third round, adding long-term pieces at the roster's two biggest need positions.
Getting McClellan required the Packers to send a fifth-round pick to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to move up seven slots in the third round. Instead of having six picks on Day 3, the Packers will have just the five.
Gutekunst said he'd be fine with a seven-player draft class, which would be the lowest of his tenure as general manager, but he also mentioned a willingness to move around the board to target the best player available on Saturday.
"Wouldn't mind moving around a little bit. I think the board is strong, I think there are good players up there," Gutekunst said. "I don't feel a pressing need."
