The Green Bay Packers are hosting LSU safety A.J. Haulcy on an official visit before the 2026 NFL draft. Haulcy posted photos of Green Bay on his official Instagram page, and NFL reporter Aaron Wilson confirmed the visit is happening Monday.
Haulcy, a four-year starter across one season at New Mexico, two seasons at Houston and one at LSU, ranks as the No. 57 overall player on the consensus big board and a likely Day 2 pick. A first-team All-Conference pick in both the Big 12 (2024) and SEC (2025), Haulcy ranks as the No. 5 overall safety and the No. 70 overall player for Dane Brugler of The Athletic.
At the combine, Haulcy measured 5-11 and 215 pounds, and he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.52 seconds. He did no other testing during the pre-draft process.
Per PFF, Haulcy played over 1,000 career snaps in the box, almost 1,400 snaps at free safety and nearly 400 in the slot, plus over 300 on special teams. He earned near elite grades in coverage during each of his final two seasons and was a plus run defender throughout his collegiate career.
The Packers do not have an immediate or long-term need at safety, but the team could see Haulcy as a versatile defensive back who can play in the box or deep at safety and provide immediate value on special teams.
From Brugler's draft guide: "Overall, Haulcy has some wild tendencies. Given his recognition and range, though, teams will be comfortable betting on him to reach his ceiling as an NFL starter. Teams will also appreciate his coachability and intangibles, which will show on special teams."
Over four collegiate seasons, Haulcy produced 347 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, 19 pass breakups, 10 interceptions and four forced fumbles. Eight of his interceptions came during his final two seasons, including a Big 12-leading five picks in 2024.
