UFC lightweight contender Paddy Pimblett has begun training camp for his next fight and expects his opponent to be announced soon. "The Baddy" and team know who they're facing next and gave clues to their opponent's identity on Pimblett's YouTube channel.
"We know who his opponent is. You probably don't, but you could probably guess if you read between the lines," said Pimblett's coach Paul Rimmer.
"I'm just getting back in the swing of things. First full week back, just getting back into it," Pimblett said about the beginning of his training camp.
In the video, Pimblett revealed that his fight is about 12 weeks out. In a recent social media post, he disclosed that he's been training with southpaws to prepare.
"We've still got a long time to go. I've got like 12 weeks, but it's better to get started early and start the diet early and that's what we're doing," said Pimblett.
"Nice week ... Getting sharper, getting faster, getting back into fight shape. Weight's coming down, so obviously everything is running smoothly so far. Hopefully it continues that way up until fight night."
While Pimblett will leave it up to the fight promotion to make an official announcement of who he's facing next, he gave some strong hints at the end of the video.
Wearing a beret and holding a baguette, Pimbeltt said, "I'm not going to reveal who my opponent is. The UFC will do that in due course. We'll find out soon enough, won't we?"
It would appear Pimblett will be taking on Benoit Saint Denis, the only Frenchman in the 155-pound rankings. As Pimblett dropped the hints, he was sporting a necklace made of garlic and took a bite out of the baguette.
Pimblett last fought in January headlining the first UFC fight card of the Paramount+ media rights deal. He fell short to Justin Gaethje in a lightweight interim title bout and will be looking to rebound.
Paddy Pimblett's next opponent has not been officially announced, but hints have been dropped that fans might guess the identity.
Paddy Pimblett's next fight is approximately 12 weeks away as he begins his training camp.
