The Detroit Tigers' center fielder underwent surgery Monday, April 13, to repair a radius fracture in his left forearm. The 26-year-old is scheduled to be sidelined for multiple months, but the Tigers expect him to return to games at some point in the 2026 season.
Meadows had the surgery in Atlanta.
"I don't have an official timeline," manager A.J. Hinch said before Tuesday's game against the Kansas City Royals at Comerica Park. "I do expect him to be competitive again this season. We're talking about a couple of months, so it's not anytime soon."

Meadows suffered the broken left arm in Thursday's 3-1 loss against the Minnesota Twins when he collided with left fielder Riley Greene in the eighth inning at Target Field. He also suffered a concussion and received five stitches for a laceration on the right side of his mouth.
"He's already doing better on the concussion side and the stitches side," Hinch said.
In the 2026 season, Meadows has hit .250 with two walks and 10 strikeouts throughout 12 games, registering plus-2 defensive runs saved across 87⅔ innings in center field.
