Arthur Fils has been putting together an impressive season on the ATP Tour in 2026.
Back from a lengthy back injury since February, heās moved up the rankings from 42nd to 25th, thanks to a strong run of results.
He made it to the Qatar Open final, reached the quarterfinals in Indian Wells, and then made the semis in Miami. He capped off that stretch by winning his first title since 2024 at the Barcelona Open. The Frenchman now finds himself in the Madrid Open semifinals, set to face world number one Jannik Sinner.

Fils made his mark early with wins over Novak Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev during his breakout season two years ago. But dealing with injuries slowed down his momentum for a while. Now that heās back fit again and having gained more experience on tour, thereās a growing belief that he could challenge for titles soon if he stays healthy.
Mouratoglou is among those backing Fils. Speaking recently about what makes him special compared to other young players coming up alongside Alcaraz and Sinner at that time, he pointed out something specific: āThere is one quality of Arthur Fils that nobody talks about.
āItās the fact that heās learning extremely fast, and this is the real quality of the champions. When heās in a difficult situation or he experiences something negative, he says, okay, this is my issue, next tournament, he solves it.
