A New England Patriots 2026 NFL Draft pick is in some legal trouble.
According to court documents obtained by CBS News, Patriots seventh-round draft pick and edge rusher Quintayvious Hutchins has been arrested.
Court documents show Hutchins was charged with assault and battery on a family or household member.
The exact details of the alleged incident remain unknown.
Hutchins was arraigned on Wednesday morning in Newton District Court and had a plea of not guilty entered on his behalf.
The rookie has since been released with the promise he would return to court for the next hearing.
The Patriots have released a statement on the matter.
âWe are aware of the report involving Quintayvious Hutchins,â the Patriots said in a statement. âWe take these matters very seriously and are in the process of gathering additional information. We will not have further comment at this time.â
Hutchins, 23, played his college ball at Boston College, where he compiled 5.5 sacks, 72 tackles, nine tackles for loss and one interception over the past two seasons.
He was the No. 247 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, which came in the seventh round.
âIâve been saying since the draft started, âIâm going to be a Patriot. Iâm going to be a Patriot,'â Hutchins said, via Patriots Wireâs Sophie Weller.

As a seventh-round pick, Hutchins was already facing an uphill climb to make the New England Patriotsâ roster, as late-round picks often miss the cut.
If he is indeed guilty of the alleged wrongdoing here, that could end his chances entirely.

Upon entering the NFL, Hutchinsâ best opportunity to stick with the New England Patriots was by grabbing a special teams role.
âAnother possible kicking-game contributor, the Patriots went with a local product to put the finishing touches on their 2026 draft class,â NBC Sportsâ Phil Perry wrote. âHutchins is a two-year starter and one-year captain at BC who racked up just 5.5 sacks in that time.
âHutchins (6-foot-3, 243 pounds, 33-inch arms) has over 400 snaps on special teams under his belt, which could help him punch his ticket to a roster spot,â Perry added.
Hutchins recently took part in the teamâs rookie minicamp from May 8-10.
Rookies are next expected to take the practice field during OTAs later this month.
