New England Patriots offensive guard Alijah Vera-Tucker remains on track to participate in training camp later this summer and expects to be on the field for organized team activities later this month.
“I’m definitely on track. Feeling great,” Vera-Tucker told reporters Thursday after the team’s voluntary offseason workout. “Shout out to the training staff here, man, doing a great job with me. We’re working together. Communication is key in recovering from an injury. So everything’s going well and we’re on track.”
Vera-Tucker missed the entire 2025 season after suffering a torn triceps in practice before Week 1. It wasn’t his first major injury, as he previously suffered a season-ending triceps tear in the opposite arm in 2022. The following year, Vera-Tucker missed the final 12 games with a torn achilles.
Arriving in New England this offseason in free agency on a three-year deal worth up to $48 million, the 26-year old has continued to focus on new ways to take care of his body moving forward.
“I would say so,” he replied when asked if he’s embraced new techniques. “I think we got a great nutrition staff over here too. So, talked a lot with them, and what I can do to speed the process a little bit, and to help myself in the future.
After missing all of last season and suiting up in just 43 of a possible 85 games in his career, Vera-Tucker is motivated to prove his worth back on the field.
“For me personally, I’m really eager. Not only just because I wasn’t able to play last year, [but] because I’m on a new team as well,” he said. “Coaches have seen my film and this and that, but nobody on the team has seen me play. For me, I got something to prove to each individual player on this team that there’s a reason why I’m here, and I’m grateful to be in that position.”
On the field in New England, Vera-Tucker is set to line up at left guard between left tackle and center . Participating in the start of the team’s voluntary offseason program over the past two weeks has allowed him to begin building important relationships with his new teammates.
“I think it’s important to build that relationship early. In the meeting rooms, we have great open communication — what Will wants, what I want, what Jared wants, our different techniques and how we apply that to each individual game. And obviously, you’ll switch up every now and then,” Vera-Tucker said. “But I think that’s very important — the open communication in the o-line room right now. I think it’s a great o-line room, we’re all vibing and spending time off the field too, which is really important.”
