"Sources: Texas Tech pass rusher David Bailey was supposed to have a 30 visit with the Jets," Hughes wrote on X on Wednesday. "The team decided to cancel that visit."
While canceling the visit could mean that the Jets have made the decision to pick Reese, it could also mean they have seen enough from Bailey and want to use that visit on a different player. However, canceling the visit does not seem indicative of the Jets picking Bailey, as there is no real reason the team would not want him in the facility if they plan to pick him.
The Reese versus Bailey argument comes down to potential or production. Resse has loads of potential and could end up becoming a superstar. He has a high ceiling and can play as an off-ball linebacker or off the edge. However, he had just 6.5 sacks last season, and could take some time to develop.
On the other hand, Bailey led the FBS in pressure rate and was tied for the FBS lead in sacks with 14.5. He has already put up monster numbers and could make an immediate impact for any team.
