Paul McGinley has expressed one significant concern that he has about Cameron Young despite his victory at the Cadillac Championship this week.
Young was absolutely dominant at Doral to claim his third PGA Tour win. While it was not much of a spectacle for the neutral, there is no question that it was such an impressive performance from the 28-year-old.
He took charge of the tournament from the early stages and did not look back. Young ended up winning by six shots from Scottie Scheffler on the Blue Monster.
Given that he also won The Players Championship and contended at The Masters, many will view Young as one of the favourites to win at the PGA Championship this month.
It appears to be the next step in his career. He has proven that he can win on some of the toughest tracks on the PGA Tour. And at the Ryder Cup, he proved that he is not afraid of the big stage.
However, Paul McGinley fears that Young may be about to damage his chances of winning at Aronimink.
Young confirmed after his win that he will be in the field for the Truist Championship in the coming days. And speaking on Sky Sports, McGinley suggested that he could see his schedule coming back to haunt him.

âYou have to think so after that performance but I would have a word of caution and warning. Having won this week, playing the Truist next week and then trying to win the PGA Championship, that is a big, big ask,â he said.
âThe other guys are going to be rested. Scottie played this week but is not going to play next week. Rory didnât play this week but is going to play next week. So the guys are picking and choosing.
âCan Young maintain this? Donât forget Matt Fitzpatrick too, another one of the hottest players in the game at the moment, along with Cameron Young. He has had a good break this week and should be a little bit fresher.
âMy only concern for Young is that he has got everything now, he has the belief, but is he going to be rested enough to play three big tournaments in a row?â
The leaderboard from The Masters certainly justifies McGinleyâs concerns. Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler finished inside the top two at Augusta National despite taking several weeks off from competition for different reasons.
In fact, not a single player in the top 20 at The Masters played in both the Texas Childrenâs Houston Open and the Valero Texas Open in the two weeks before the first major of the year.
The difference this time is that both the Cadillac Championship and the Truist Championship are signature events, so have the potential to be even more demanding.
Obviously, Young will not be the only big name playing three weeks in a row. But it is going to be very interesting to see how much he has in the tank after tackling Quail Hollow.
