Penguins' Stuart Skinner Named Potential Target For Atlantic Club

Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender Stuart Skinner is among the several pending unrestricted free agents on the Metropolitan Division club's roster. With the Penguins having two young goalies in Arturs Silovs and Sergei Murashov, there is certainly a chance that Pittsburgh will end up letting Skinner leave in free agency.

If the Penguins choose not to re-sign Skinner, he would generate a good amount of interest. This is because he is one of the top pending UFA goalies in this year's class.

Now, a potential suitor for Skinner has been named if he ends up becoming a free agent on July 1.

In a recent article for Postmedia, Bruce Garrioch reported that Skinner is expected to be among the Ottawa Senators' targets if he hits the market.

"A name to keep an eye on is Pittsburgh Penguins unrestricted free agent Stuart Skinner. Staios was part of the Edmonton organization before he came to the Senators," Garrioch wrote. "The expectation is he won’t be back with the Penguins next season and the belief is he will be among Ottawa’s top targets in free agency."

When noting that the Senators had serious issues when it came to their backup goaltending this season, it would make sense if they tried to land Skinner. If they successfully signed him, he would have the potential to form a strong tandem with Linus Ullmark.
