Manchester United defender Harry Amass has shared a positive injury update as he eyes a sensational return to action.
Amass spent the first half of the season out on loan at Sheffield Wednesday, where he impressed despite the side’s woes both on and off the pitch. He cemented a regular starting berth under Henrik Pedersen and was a key player for the Owls.
However, United felt it would be better for Amass’s development to go elsewhere. United recalled him in January and sanctioned another loan exit, this time to Norwich City.
Amass endured a nightmare start to life with the Canaries as he suffered a hamstring injury in training, days after making his debut as a substitute in the victory over Championship league leaders Coventry City.
He has since been at United, undergoing his rehabilitation. Earlier this month, Norwich boss Philippe Clement admitted his frustration with the nature of Amass’s return to parent club United.
On Wednesday, Amass took to Instagram and shared an update on his fitness.
Amass posted an image of himself with boots on. He captioned the picture with an hourglass emoji, presumably suggesting that he is back training on the grass and not too far away from making a return.

According to Simon Stone of the BBC, Amass is indeed training outside again.
Stone further notes, “The defender is not expected to play again this season despite closing in on a full recovery from a serious hamstring injury.”
“However, a return to Norwich for the final four games of the league campaign has been ruled out and while Amass could, in theory, play for United’s Under-21 side in the Premier League 2 play-offs, which are due to start next week, that is thought to be unlikely.”
The 19-year-old is expected to be available for the start of pre-season training in mid-July.
Meanwhile, United are next in action on Saturday when they go away to Chelsea. Kick-off is at 20:00 GMT.
