Oregon tight end Kenyon Sadiq has been named a top 10 rookie draft target despite mixed production in college. His impressive athleticism showcased at the NFL Combine has sparked interest among fantasy football fans.
The NFL Draft is a major event for all fans of the game of football. For fantasy football fans especially, it marks the second time in the offseason in which they get to enjoy new projections, roles, and expectations for players and teams alike. In dynasty football specifically, players use the draft to place stock and value in player shares as they find their NFL homes.
One player who has folks divided based on his testing and production is Oregon tight end Kenyon Sadiq.
The certified athletic freak showed at the NFL Combine that he can be a dominant presence on the field, but his production this past season at Oregon didn't show that. Expectations were high for him to break out in 2026, but it never unfolded. Despite that, PFF's Nathan Jahnke still has hope in him and has him as a top 10 rookie in upcoming rookie drafts.
He admits that he does not fit the mold of recent star rookies, but he fits their size at the very least.
Jahnke writes, "There is no equivalent to Brock Bowers, Tyler Warren or Colston Loveland in this tight end class, but Sadiq is the one tight end expected to be drafted in the first round, while no tight end is expected to go in the second round. Sadiq is one of seven tight ends who have been expected to go in the first round of the last six drafts. Sadiq is more like Bowers, Loveland, Kyle Pitts and Dalton Kincaid in that they are lighter tight ends known mostly for their receiving ability, rather than Michael Mayer and Warren, who are more well-rounded tight ends."
While Jahnke remains optimistic, others want to let you know there should be caution as you proceed. The Fantasy Footballers use a formula to find a dominator rating on players leaving college for the NFL. Sadiq's rating in this would be the lowest for a tight end taken in round one since Hayden Hurst and O.J. Howard in 2017 and 2018.
The Bucs tried their luck with Howard, and he remains a nightmare-inducing pick for the team and fans alike. Some recent projections have them now being attached to the Big Ten playmaker, but should they be? For both the team and the fantasy community, a Sadiq pick for the Bucs would leave a lot in the air and make for an interesting training camp, and they sort it out.
Time will tell if there is reason to worry, but for now, Bucs fans and fantasy players should at least be cautious.
Why is Kenyon Sadiq considered a top rookie for the NFL Draft?
Kenyon Sadiq is viewed as a top rookie due to his exceptional athleticism demonstrated at the NFL Combine, despite inconsistent production during his college career.
What are the expectations for Kenyon Sadiq in the 2026 NFL season?
Expectations for Kenyon Sadiq in the 2026 NFL season are mixed, as he was anticipated to break out but did not meet those expectations during his time at Oregon.
