ESPN's latest power rankings place the New York Jets at No. 31, just above the Miami Dolphins. Despite an active offseason, the Jets still have much to prove.

With the 2026 NFL Draft a thing of the past, ESPN released a new way-too-early power rankings poll.
The New York Jets were one of the NFL's busiest teams this offseason. From signing a new quarterback in Geno Smith, to making three first-round picks at the draft to signing running back Breece Hall to an extension, head coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey have been working hard.
Even so, Gang Green has plenty to prove still according to ESPN.
Despite all that effort, ESPN kept the Jets in the No. 31 spot in their power ranking. That is only ahead of the MIami Dolphins in dead last.
At least ESPN's breakdown gave a shoutout to the work the Jets did at edge defender. That analysis can be found below:
The Jets used the draft, free agency and a trade to improve one of their weakest position groups, edge rusher. The headliner is No. 2 draft pick David Bailey, who replaces Jermaine Johnson II (traded to the Titans). The Jets also signed Joseph Ossai (Bengals) and () in March.

The edge rushers should also benefit from an improved interior defensive line, which added David Onyemata (Saints) and T'Vondre Sweat. The Jets' meager 2025 sack total (26, which ranked 31st) should improve next season. -- Rich Cimini
