The Miami Dolphins are considering trading starting center Aaron Brewer to the Los Angeles Chargers for two draft picks in 2026, including a second-round pick. This move could provide the Dolphins with valuable assets as Brewer is set to become a free agent next year.
The Miami Dolphins, after trading wide receiver Jaylen Waddle and safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, have 11 picks to make in the 2026 NFL draft, which is tied for the most of any team with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
While the Dolphins will already be adding plenty of talented players with those selections, they could take this year as an opportunity to move on from a player entering the final season of his contract and get real value in return.
In a recent post for FOX Sports, Ralph Vacchiano proposed that the Dolphins could trade starting center Aaron Brewer to the Los Angeles Chargers for a 2026 second-round pick (No. 55 overall) and a 2026 fourth-round pick (No. 123 overall).
"Even a sell-happy team like the Dolphins isn’t going to be eager to trade a 28-year-old center who ranks near the top of the league at his position and has an affordable salary," Vacchiano wrote. "But he is going to be a free agent next year and could cost a small fortune. So it wouldn’t be crazy for the Dolphins to get something for him now and find his replacement in the draft. As for the Chargers, their top priority has to be keeping QB Justin Herbert upright, and all they did was add center Tyler Biadasz and guard Cole Strange in free agency. Brewer would be an upgrade, though the Dolphins surely would want a high pick since they’d prefer to keep him around."
New Dolphins general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan and head coach Jeff Hafley have both made it clear that they view Brewer as a building block for the future, so it's hard to imagine them pivoting hard and trading him during the draft.
However, it could also be a business move to talk him up and get the most out of him. The Chargers might also be willing to pay more due to Brewer's connection with Mike McDaniel, who was his head coach in Miami.
