The Los Angeles Rams hope to have landed their latest late-round gem at wide receiver after selecting CJ Daniels in the sixth round. They traded up 10 spots to draft him on Day 3, adding some competition to the wide receiver room for Jordan Whittington and Konata Mumpfield.
Daniels was thrilled to be drafted by the Rams, especially as a big Davante Adams fan. He told reporters on his post-draft call that he’s always looked up to Adams and tries to model his game after the Rams veteran.
“Davante is someone that I’ve always looked up to," Daniels said Saturday. "He's a guy that I've always tried to model my game after, my releases, how he plays the game of football and I’ve definitely watched a lot of Puka. I saw he was a fifth-round draft pick. I saw everything he was capable of doing, whether it was in the run game or pass game. He's just a very dynamic player. I can't wait to be a part of that group.”
Daniels was a standout player for the Miami Hurricanes last season, helping them reach the national championship as one of Carson Beck's favorite targets. He's not necessarily a burner in terms of speed but he wins contested catch battles and has strong hands.
He should be able to learn a lot from Adams and Puka Nacua as a rookie this year, particularly when it comes to route running and releases at the line of scrimmage. Nacua took in a lot of guidance from Adams last year and Daniels will do the same in 2026.
CJ Daniels is a sixth-round rookie wide receiver drafted by the Rams to enhance competition in their receiving corps.
CJ Daniels has expressed that he looks up to Davante Adams and tries to model his game after him, focusing on his releases and overall play style.
At the University of Miami, CJ Daniels was a standout player who helped the team reach the national championship as a key target for quarterback Carson Beck.

He's looking forward to getting started in L.A., saying that the Rams are "going to get an ultimate teammate."
"They are going to get a guy that wants to come in and just be the best version of myself each and every day and make my teammates better, a guy that just wants to make plays and do whatever I can to make the quarterback’s job as easy as possible," Daniels said.
