The Los Angeles Rams shocked the NFL world when they selected Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson with the No. 13 overall pick in the NFL Draft.
Some thought the Rams would add a receiver given the uncertainty surrounding Puka Nacua and an aging Davante Adams.
But the franchise chose to look towards the future by taking Matthew Stafford's potential replacement.
And for ESPN's Sarah Barshop, that move could end up coming back to bite the Rams in a big way.
"If receivers Puka Nacua and Davante Adams can stay healthy next season, passing on a wide receiver or another pass catcher might not be a huge deal for Los Angeles," Barshop writes. "If either miss extended time, the Rams might wish they had drafted a player who could help them win right now."

As Barshop stated, if Nacua and Adams are healthy, then it won't be an issue, but can we count on both receivers playing a full 17-game season and playoffs? That does seem unlikely.
Still, the Rams clearly don't think it will matter, but if one goes down, the other can step up, but the depth isn't exactly great.
Many questioned the pick of Simpson, and if the Rams struggle due to either Adams or Nacua missing time, that certainly won't help matters.
