Rams Under Fire for Repping LA Kings’ Playoff Opponents

Despite being located in the same city, the Los Angeles Rams were not rooting for the Los Angeles Kings in the Western Conference First Round. Instead, the Rams were cheering on the Kings’ opponent, the Colorado Avalanche. The Rams shared a video of general manager Les Snead calling Miami wide receiver CJ Daniels to inform him the franchise would be drafting him with the No. 197 overall pick in the sixth round of the NFL Draft on Saturday. In the video, Snead and another Rams staff member were spotted repping Avalanche jerseys.

A post shared by LA Sports Report (@lasportsreport) At the time, the Avalanche held a 3-0 series lead over the Kings in the first round of the playoffs. Los Angeles still had another game against Colorado on Sunday and would have to win in order to keep their season alive.

Rams Owner Also Owns Colorado Sports Teams

It’s common for sports franchises to show their support for other franchises located in the same city. For example, teams like the Rams, Los Angeles Dodgers and Los Angeles Lakers were among multiple LA franchises to congratulate UCLA women’s basketball on winning the national championship earlier in April.

Rams owner Stan Kroenke also owns the Denver Nuggets in the NBA, Colorado Rapids in MLS, Colorado Mammoth in NLL and the Avalanche in the NHL. Therefore, when an LA team has played one of his Colorado teams, the Rams have rooted for the Colorado franchise.
