Real Madrid coaching staff annoyed with Mbappe post-match comments after Oviedo win

Kylian Mbappe has caused frustration inside Real Madrid following his controversial comments after the 2-0 victory over Real Oviedo.

In fact, according to reports in The Athletic, members of the Real Madrid coaching staff were annoyed by the French superstar’s public remarks regarding Alvaro Arbeloa and his role in the squad.

The situation has now become one of the biggest stories surrounding the club after Mbappe suggested following the match that he had not started because he was viewed as the “fourth-choice striker”.

Fresh details now claim the relationship between player and manager had already become tense before kick-off.

According to sources close to the situation, Arbeloa and Mbappe held a direct conversation before the Oviedo match.

During that discussion, Mbappe expressed frustration about being left on the bench, while the manager himself raised concerns regarding the player’s recent behaviour.

Notably, the Frenchman has faced criticism in recent weeks in the build-up to El Clasico, a match that he missed and Real Madrid lost 0-2.

Against Oviedo, the tension inside the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium became impossible to ignore, as Mbappe received the loudest boos of the night after entering the pitch in the second half.
