After reports surfaced Thursday, May 7, about a fight in the locker room at the club's training ground, Uruguayan midfielder Valverde posted a statement apologizing for the incident to the club, its fans and to his teammates. He also said that, while he suffered an injury, the two never came to blows.
Still, Real Madrid announced Valverde will be out for 10-14 days, resting after suffering a traumatic brain injury. The club also opened an investigation into the case.
Those proceedings have been wrapped up quickly as the club passed down the fine to both players and now considers the matter closed.

Real Madrid announced Friday, May 8, that both players appeared before an investigator, made the situation right and accepted the fine levied by the club.
"During their appearance, the players expressed their complete remorse for what happened and apologized to each other," the statement read. "Furthermore, they extended their apologies to the club, their teammates, the coaching staff, and the fans, and both have made themselves available to Real Madrid to accept whatever sanction the club deems appropriate.
"Under these circumstances, Real Madrid has decided to impose a financial penalty of five hundred thousand euros on each player, thereby concluding the corresponding internal procedures."
Valverde will miss Sunday's Clásico clash with FC Barcelona, a game in which a Real Madrid squad in turmoil both on and off the field after falling short of a trophy win this campaign will look to rescue something from the season by beating its hated rival.
