The new ABS Challenge system was the talk of the town when the Major League Baseball season started in April.

It seems as though the change was met with open arms by even the most die-hard baseball purists, as the near-daily headlines about the new officiating change disappeared as the season waged on.

Baseball fans now have their first month of data to examine how each team has implemented the change into their game plan.

As it turns out, no team in the league is utilizing the ABS as little as the Boston Red Sox.

Boston has challenged a total of just 45 times in 37 games.

Batters have challenged 24 calls. They have won 11 and lost 13, putting them in the middle of the pack as far as success rate is concerned. For reference, the New York Yankees are tied for the second-most challenges at the plate with 45. Their success rate is similar.

The Red Sox aren't simply "saving" their challenges for the defense either. Offensively, they are tied for the least, but on defense, no single team comes close to challenging fewer times.

Red Sox catchers have gone to their heads 20 times, while just one single pitcher has. Defensive challenging has become much more common since ABS's implementation. The Miami Marlins lead the way with 67 challenges, winning 40.

There is no negative consequence for challenging. The Red Sox's refusal to do so makes it feel like they are leaving strikes on the table.
