The New Jersey Devils surely aren't happy with the season that just ended, either.
Maybe a big trade would shake things up in a positive way.
That's what @JFreshHockey, the co-founder of HockeyStats.com, suggested in a post on X on Sunday:

Larkin is the more known name, in large part because of his contribution to Team USA at the 2026 Winter Olympics.
He'd bring his leadership and all-around ability to the Devils as a new face for their team alongside Jack Hughes.
Hischier is younger, so the Red Wings would be looking not just for a quick fix to their playoff drought but for a long-haul solution that can make their franchise better over time, too.
It's not obvious that both sides would want to do this deal. They each have reasons to want to stand pat on these players, too.
But it's certainly a fascinating idea, and for two squads that could probably use a shake-up, it'd certainly shake things up.
