Relief for Barcelona as defender’s injury not serious; expected to be back soon – Romano
FC Barcelona strengthened their grip on the La Liga title when they beat Celta Vigo 1-0 last night at the Spotify Camp Nou.
However, the victory came at a cost as they saw Joao Cancelo taken off with a knee issue in the first period before Lamine Yamal also had to be substituted with a hamstring problem soon after he had scored.
While Lamine’s injury is believed to be concerning, there is some respite for Barcelona as far as Cancelo’s condition is concerned.
Indeed, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Portuguese full-back has not suffered a serious injury and is expected to be back in action very soon.

The 31-year-old defender once again started at left-back ahead of Alejandro Balde last night against Celta Vigo.
However, 20 minutes into the match, Cancelo complained of pain in his knee region and had to be replaced by the La Masia graduate.
The Al-Hilal loanee, though, was able to walk off the pitch by himself without any noticeable limp, which indicated that the issue was nothing major.
Earlier today, both Cancelo and Lamine showed up at the Ciutat Esportiva to undergo medical tests, and while an official word is awaited, the full-back’s injury is understood not to be a serious one.
However, it still remains to be seen whether he will be available to face Getafe this Saturday in La Liga.
Since joining the club on loan in January, Cancelo has played 17 times for Barcelona in all competitions, scoring one and assisting four goals.
