No player on the PGA Tour is in better form right now than Matt Fitzpatrick, with the Englishman winning three times in his last four starts on the PGA Tour.
It is truly remarkable to think that there was a huge question mark hanging over Fitzpatrick this time last year as the European Ryder Cup team for Bethpage was beginning to take shape.
In truth, it seemed that the 31-year-old was going to leave himself too much work to earn a place in Luke Donaldās side for New York.
But there is an argument that Fitzpatrick is the best player in the world right now.
At one stage, Fitzpatrick looked destined to be one of those players who would not make the grade on the PGA Tour. He lost every match he played across the 2016 and 2021 Ryder Cups.
But he has completely changed his game. He is now a major champion. And while he remains one of the most accurate drivers on the PGA Tour, he is far from a short hitter now.
Fitzpatrick won the 2022 US Open by one shot after an incredible approach from the bunker on the 72nd hole. So it was somewhat fitting that his victory alongside brother Alex at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans this past week came about after a stunning shot from the sand set up the decisive birdie.
Matt Fitzpatrick has won three out of his last four starts on the PGA Tour.
Last year, there were doubts about Fitzpatrick's form, but he has significantly improved, now being the most clutch player on the tour.
Fitzpatrick's current success enhances his chances of being selected for the European Ryder Cup team.

It is further proof that Fitzpatrick has become the most clutch player on the PGA Tour.
All five of Fitzpatrickās PGA Tour victories have come by either one shot or in a playoff. He has won both of the playoffs he has contested Stateside.
You can also add in five more wins on the DP World Tour by one shot or in a playoff, including his victory over Rory McIlroy on the first additional hole at last yearās DP World Tour Championship.
It takes a special player to be so prolific when the tournament threatens to go right down to the wire.
The next task for Fitzpatrick now is to contend in the majors much more often. He has registered just three top 10s in the four biggest events of the year since his win at Brookline.
But if he is able to put himself in the mix coming down the stretch in one of the upcoming majors, it should come as no surprise at all if he is able to get himself across the line.
