Jimmy Garoppolo is reportedly "mulling" retirement.
"Rams free agent QB Jimmy Garoppolo, considered their top option as backup QB, is considering retirement, sources say," NFL Network national insider Ian Rapoport posted on Bluesky Monday afternoon. "Jimmy G, who has started 64 games during a 12-year career, has made over $156M in all. He is 34 and is mulling a final decision."
It was reported in early March that in addition to the Los Angeles Rams, "Jimmy G" was getting interest from the Arizona Cardinals.
The Cardinals released two-time Pro Bowl quarterback Kyler Murray soon after and the former first overall pick signed with the Minnesota Vikings in mid-March.
The selected Garoppolo in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft and he spent three seasons as 's backup.

Garoppolo made two starts at the beginning of the 2016 campaign while Brady served his "Deflategate" suspension and the former earned two Super Bowl rings with the Patriots as well.
Garoppolo then played six seasons with the San Franciso 49ers from 2017 to 2022 and one year with the Las Vegas Raiders in 2023.
The Eastern Illinois product spent the last two seasons with the Rams as Matthew Stafford's backup, playing four games and making one start.
