Among the tryouts with local school connections were East State Tennessee quarterback Cade McNamara, Tennessee running back Star Thomas, Middle Tennessee defensive tackle Damonte Smith, and Western Kentucky wide receiver Matthew Henry. Titans special teams coordinator John “Bones” Fassel put the undrafted rookies and tryout players through a funny-looking field drill that went viral due to Tyren Montgomery’s peculiar approach to running it. It was designed to test their athleticism and project their ability to play special teams. The Titans clearly went 0-for-58 there. The Titans will move forward with 19 rookies, combining their draft and undrafted class. This year’s UDFA crop features some intriguing players, including Montgomery, offensive tackles Aamil Wagner and Rasheed Miller, safety Bishop Fitzgerald, and cornerbacks Latrell McCutchin Sr. and Jalen McMurray.
