Justin Rose made the baffling decision to switch irons two weeks ago.
At what is such a key point in the golfing season, Rose opted to put new McLaren irons in his bag ahead of the Cadillac Championship at Trump National Doral.
And he has struggled badly with his new irons since then.

That is quite the drop-off for someone who was ranked inside the top 20 for strokes gained approach before he made the change to McLaren.
Rose left golf fans stunned when he switched to McLaren irons, with many suggesting that the move ended his chances of winning another major.
When speaking on Sky Sports, Rich Beem made a very interesting observation about Justin Rose’s new irons.
The American responded when asked what he makes of Rose’s decision to change irons.
“Here’s the crazy thing, I think that after looking at them, they don’t look anything different than what he had been playing,“ Beem said.

*“*They’re basically identical to the irons that he had in the bag, just a little different manufacturing process.
*“*Um, I don’t see anything majorly different with it.
“I know he’s been practising for quite some time, so I think it’s all good.“
Despite what Beem says, there will be something different about Rose’s new irons; they cannot be exactly the same.
There will be a slight difference, even if they have been manufactured to exactly the same specs as his old irons.
Rose probably has one or two more years left where he will be truly capable of winning a major championship, perhaps three at the most.
And it’s fair to argue that he has taken a huge risk by switching irons at this stage of his career.
Who knows, Justin Rose may well prove everyone wrong and perform even better with his McLaren irons.
However, the early signs look fairly bleak if we’re being honest.
