Richard Hughes can complete deal for one of highest-rated wingers in the world
One-v-one quality out wide would appear to be the priority for Liverpool ahead of the summer transfer window opening.
Last year we saw massive deals concluded for central attackers - including British record fees paid for both Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak.
Big money also went on Hugo Ekitike as Arne Slot and Richard Hughes completely revamped the strike and supply lines.
This summer is different however with the Premier League champions seeking to add pace and trickery in the wing areas.
Mohamed Salah is leaving the club having reached an agreement to rip up his £400k per week contract. And Federico Chiesa is very likely to join him having failed to win over Slot.
Cody Gakpo meanwhile has had an underwhelming season and the head coach is reluctant to use Rio Ngumoha as a starter on a consistent basis.
Richard Hughes is a key figure in Liverpool's transfer strategy, likely involved in negotiating player acquisitions.
Liverpool has recently made significant signings, including Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak, which involved record fees.
Liverpool aims to improve their attacking options, particularly in one-v-one situations on the wings, to enhance their overall performance.

The France international joined Paris Saint-Germain back in 2023 for around £40m - winning the treble under Luis Enrique last season.
But the 23-year-old would not usually feature in the Spaniard’s ideal starting XI - with Ousmane Dembele, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Desire Doue all firmly established in the pecking order.
The 23-year-old has only started 19 Ligue 1 games for PSG this season and has recently fallen out of the Champions League starting XI too.
A report could prompt him to seek a move away from Parc des Princes this summer.
“The French international is one of the highest-rated wingers in world football, yet is concerned about his lack of minutes in top games and could seek a move away this summer,” the report reads.
“He’s normally coming off the bench in all these big Champions League games, which could give Liverpool a potential opening that he could be prised away with regular first-team football.”
Barcola is under contract at PSG until 2028 - meaning he would command a sizeable fee if the French giants were minded to do business.
A versatile performer Barcola has played most of his football for PSG on the left wing but has also featured on the right wing.
He could therefore cover several positions for Arne Slot next season - providing a readymade replacement for Mohamed Salah and extra cover and competition on the left.
