The argument continued to get heated as it appears Fox lunges towards the man off camera, to which he is held back by his campaign staffers.
Fox later spoke to reporters about what happened in the incident that could have been misinterpreted from the video.
āThat context is not in that video,ā Fox told reporters the next day, per Us Weekly.Ā āBut I will tell you, some people are used to, this time of year, being bullies. And weāre not standing for that. Weāre not standing for that.ā
He continued, āAnd if youāre going to swear and threaten peopleās lives and say youāre going to your car to get something, then Iām going to react. Iām going to defend my team, Iām going to defend myself and Iām going to defend anybody that is in the area, quite frankly, because that was a dangerous situation.ā
Fox claimed that law enforcement was called and that the man has since been charged. He added that he was standing up for himself and that his life as well as his staff was "threatened."
āThe opposition party that is in power are notorious for victimizing and bullying Bahamians,ā he said. āBut Iāve been standing up to them.ā
āI stood up to the bully no different than my basketball career when I was the enforcer,ā he said. āSomeone threatens a teammateās life or threatens my life, I will defend to the death if necessary.ā
While Fox was born in Toronto, he moved to the Bahamas as a child. He is currently a political candidate for the 2026 Bahamas' House of Assembly.
