Paige Bueckers played rock, paper, scissors with a fan for signed sneakers after a preseason game. The fan won and received the sneakers, leaving them stunned.
Dallas Wings guard Paige Bueckers is a person of her word.
On Thursday, ahead of a preseason matchup with the Indiana Fever, Bueckers went out to sign autographs for fans. That's a fairly standard practice for the Wings star, but one fan upped the ante. The fan held up a homemade sign in Bueckers' direction, which said, "Rock, paper, scissors (for basketball) shoes."
Bueckers obliged, going through a brief battle with the fan. After the fan beat Bueckers, the Dallas guard said, "You can have them," before smiling and quickly walking away to sign more autographs. The fan appeared to be completely stunned.
Postgame, Bueckers, who finished her night with 20 points, three assists and a steal against the Fever, found the fan to complete her end of the deal.
"You are literally the GOAT," the fan said to Bueckers as she took off her shoes. However, Bueckers decided to make the agreement that much sweeter by autographing her Nike GT Cut 3 Turbos before handing them over. "Oh, my God. You're signing them, too?" the fan said in disbelief. "Thank you so much!"
Bueckers classily signed one shoe for the fan who originally asked and shared the other signed shoe with a second fan.
