Ronda Rousey is prepared to confront Kayla Harrison after their ongoing feud, despite Rousey focusing on her upcoming fight against Gina Carano. The rivalry stems from their shared judo background and Harrison currently holding the bantamweight title Rousey once held.

As interesting as the upcoming May 16th Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano fight card on Netflix is, the real heat is being generated by a potential fight thatâs not even on the card: Ronda Rousey vs. Kayla Harrison.
Rousey and Harrison were both Olympic level judokas training together under the U.S. judo program at the same time. Ronda earned an bronze medal in 2008, while Kayla would take gold at the 2012 and 2016 Olympics. Now Ronda is returning to MMA at a time where Kayla holds the womenâs bantamweight belt the UFC created for âRowdy.â Thatâs generated a lot of chatter between the two, most of it hostile.
Rousey has said she plans to fight Gina Carano and then retire from competition again, but thereâs been so much trash talked between her and Harrison that it seems insane they wouldnât fight each other now. And the more that Harrison says, the more Rousey threatens to shut her up ⊠if only with her words for now.
Ronda Rousey and Kayla Harrison both trained as Olympic judokas, with Rousey winning a bronze medal in 2008 and Harrison winning gold in 2012 and 2016, leading to their current competitive tensions.
Ronda Rousey's next fight is scheduled for May 16th against Gina Carano.
Kayla Harrison currently holds the women's bantamweight title created for Ronda Rousey in the UFC.
Ronda Rousey has threatened to confront Kayla Harrison verbally and potentially in the ring, indicating she is ready to 'give a learning' if Harrison continues to provoke her.

âSheâs coming and talking sât about me and Gina,â Rousey said in a new YouTube video. âDude, weâre doing nothing but helping you. Weâve done nothing but help you. I literally have like a vested interest in developing the heavier divisions. She says she canât make weight in her division anymore. Itâs taken years off of her life, all this stuff. And itâs like, help me help you!â
âWho do you think would promote you at 145? Fâking me. Who do you think would help you get paid? Fâking me. Who do you think is helping you get paid more in the UFC now because you have someone to give you a competing offer?â
âIâm trying to feed you,â she insisted. âStop biting my fâking hand. Iâm trying to help you out, man. Itâs too early for this fâking sât. But sheâs kind of like my brat little sister in a way where Iâm just like, âDonât come for me, okay? Mammaâs working. Iâm going to have to give you a learning if youâre going to want to fâking start some sât.'â
âDude, youâre not the biggest fight. Ginaâs the biggest fight. But it also benefits her, all of this. Now sheâs got a higher profile than sheâs ever had. Youâre welcome. Go figure out how to do something with it.â
Harrison is doing just fine. Sheâs set to fight Amanda Nunes sometime later this year in a bout that could secure her a strong spot in the womenâs GOAT discussion. Rousey is also doing great: sheâs undoubtedly making more money in one night with MVP than what Harrison has probably made in her entire UFC career. And so long as Kayla is contracted to the UFC and Rousey is unwilling to accept UFC pay, weâll have to accept these verbal back-and-forths as the closest thing to a real fight weâll get.
