The war of words between Ronda Rousey and Kayla Harrison continued on Wednesday during a press conference promoting Rousey's upcoming Netflix bout with Gina Carano.
While Harrison, the reigning UFC women's bantamweight champion, had her chance to discuss Rousey already, this time, it was "Rowdy" who used the microphone to address her fellow former Olympian Judo standout.
"Kayla is so irrelevant that she couldn't keep the 145-pound division around," Rousey said (thanks to MMA Junkie for the quotes). "And honestly, she's just sour because no matter what she does or what she accomplishes, she can't change the fact that she has the charisma of a wet towel and will always be under me and Gina's shadow.
"The next time she wants to talk (expletive), she should look down at her feet and consider who paved the road she's walking on. Oh wait, she can't look down at her feet because she's too busy holding on the belt and a neck brace."
Rousey, a 39-year-old who won bronze at the 2008 Summer Olympics and Beijing, was the inaugural UFC bantamweight women's champion. She was inducted into the UFC's Hall of Fame in 2018 as part of the Modern Wing.
After suffering her first loss in 2015 to Holly Holm, Rousey returned over a year later to take on Amanda Nunes, suffering another loss, this one in just 48 seconds. She had a run in the WWE after, ending her decade-long exit from MMA to meet Carano.
Harrison, meanwhile, won two golds in Judo at the Summer Olympics, first in 2012 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and again four years later in London, England. She fully transitioned to mixed martial arts, defeating Julianna Pena in June 2025 for the UFC belt.
As for her bout with Carano, Rousey believes it is the "biggest fight of all time that's going to get the most views on the biggest platform on a card with the biggest stars."
"This dream will bring more opportunities and greater revenue for fighters than ever before because this fight is bigger than just me and Gina and anybody on stage," she said. "Bet your (expletive) ass this is the biggest fight of all time."
Rousey vs. Carano takes place on May 16 from the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California under the Most Valuable Promotions banner.
