The MMA bout between Ronda Rousey Vs. Gina Carano — which is arguably the biggest Netflix live fighting event since the boxing match between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson in November of 2024 — is set for this weekend on streaming platform.
Set for Saturday, the hotly anticipated MMA match comes 10 days after the release of the Netflix original Countdown: Rousey vs. Carano – A Sports Documentary, a 50-minute special that chronicles each fighter’s preparation for the match.
Saturday’s match marks Rousey’s first MMA bout since UFC 207 on Dec. 30, 2016, when she lost to Amanda Nunes via a TKO. Carano has been away from MMA fighting even longer, as her last fight on Aug. 15, 2009, resulted in a TKO win for Cris Cyborg.
The Rousey vs. Carano bout in the hexagon cage marks the first time a live MMA match will be streaming on Netflix. Presented via a partnership with Most Valuable Promotions, the undercard for the Rousey vs. Carano bout will begin streaming live at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT from the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles. Rousey and Carano will be competing in the 145 lb. Featherweight class. Rousey has already said that her bout with Carano will be her last.

While Rousey (12-2-0) and Carano ( will be adversaries in the hexagon, the two fighters no doubt have respect for each other outside of the cage. Talking with Netflix Tudum, Carano, a pioneer in women’s MMA fighting, said Rousey is grateful for the opportunity to square off against her in the match.
“She thanked me for opening up doors for her career and was respectful in asking for this fight to happen,” Carano told Tudum. “This is an honor. I believe I will walk out of this fight with the win, and I anticipate it will not come easy, which I welcome.”
Naturally, Rousey is excited about the opportunity, telling Tudum, ““Me and Gina Carano are gonna throw down in the biggest superfight in women’s combat sport history. This is for all MMA fans past, present, and future.”
The Rousey vs. Carano fight will be available to subscribers of all three Netflix streaming packages. The streamer offers an ad-based plan for $8.99 per month and an ad-free package for $19.99 per month, where content can be streamed on two separate devices.

Ronda Rousey And Gina Carano Have Embarked On Acting Careers Since Leaving MMA Fighting
While Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano haven’t participated in an MMA fight in 10 and 16 years, respectively, each has had the opportunity to employ their skills as fighters in both movies and films.
Rousey’s film debut came in the 2014 action thriller The Expendables 3, where she starred alongside a big ensemble of famous action movie stars, including Sylvester Stallone, Jason Staham, Jet Li, Wesley Snipes, Harrison Ford, Mel Gibson and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
In addition, Rousey appeared in the feature film version of Entourage, Furious 7, Mile 22 and Charlie’s Angels. On TV, Rousey has appeared in guest roles in the shows Drunk History and Blindspot, and had a recurring role in the action drama series 9-1-1.
Carano, meanwhile, has appeared in several feature films, including Blood and Bone (2009), Haywire (2011), Fast & Furious (2013), Heist (2015), Deadpool (2016) and Kickboxer: Vengeance (2016).
Carano’s biggest television role came in the hit Disney+ Star Wars series The Mandalorian, where she played ex-shock trooper-turned mercenary Cara Dune in seven episodes in Seasons 1 and 2 in 2019 and 2020.
Carano, of course, sued Disney and Lucasfilm, alleging discrimination and wrongful termination after she was fired from Star Wars in February 2021 after filing posts on X including one where she compared being a Republican in the political climate to being Jewish during the Holocaust. Elon Musk, who acquired X, helped fund Carano’s legal battle and in August 2025 she had settled with Disney and Lucasfilm, according to Variety. The terms of the settlement were not specified.
