McIlroy's body fell to the "red recovery" zone, according to data from his WHOOP wearable device, one day after winning the 2026 Masters in Augusta, Ga.
WHOOP founder Will Ahmed released the data on Instagram on Monday, April 13, which shows McIlroy's respiratory rate and heart rate throughout the four-day tournament. McIlroy is an investor in WHOOP, according to Reuters.
The data revealed that McIlroy, 36, woke up on Monday morning with a 7% recovery, likely after a night of celebrating with family and friends after the green jacket ceremony. The three days prior showed green recovery rates of 89%, 79%, 94% and 87%.

McIlroy had a resting heart rate between 47 and 49 beats per minute from Thursday, April 9, when the tournament began at Augusta National Golf Club, through Sunday, April 12, when McIlroy won the title, according to Ahmed's data. On Sunday, McIlroy apparently took 24,000 steps, the WHOOP data showed.
When McIlroy shot on the 18th tee, his heart rate was at 135 beats per minute, and when he sunk in the putt to clinch, McIlroy found a way to focus and lowered his heart rate to 105 beats per minute.
Fans familiar with the WHOOP data were impressed by McIlroy's ability to stay calm in big moments.
"The 4 days of green recovery DURING competition is crazy. The mental stress would put me in the red," one user wrote in the comments.
McIlroy hinted at his plans for a Sunday night celebration at his winner's press conference.
āWe lose a lot more in golf than we win, so I think when the winning comes around you have to celebrate it to the fullest, so Iāll have a good time tonight and probably have a sore head flying back to Florida tomorrow morning," he said.
