Rory McIlroy’s relationship with The Masters changed dramatically over the past two years after a long period of frustration at Augusta.

Before April 2025, the Northern Irishman had never won the tournament in a 17-year career and was also enduring a decade-long drought without a major title.

He ended that run by winning the 2025 Masters to complete the Career Grand Slam and followed it up with another victory in 2026, creating an unusual statistical comparison elsewhere in sport.

McIlroy has now won two Masters titles since the last time the New York Jets recorded an interception in an NFL game, as noted by the app Sleeper.

The Jets last managed the feat in January 2025, when they picked off two passes in a game against the Miami Dolphins.

Since then, the franchise have gone an entire season without a single interception, an unprecedented run in the history of the league.

During a campaign in which they managed just three wins in 17 games, the Jets failed to register any interceptions, something that had not happened since the NFL began tracking the statistic in 1933.

The contrast highlights the scale of both achievements, with McIlroy’s return to dominance aligning with one of the most unusual defensive droughts seen in American football.
