⢠Central Texas had another championship showing in girls soccer with Round Rock (Class 6A Division I) and Wimberley (Class 4A DII) winning state titles in Georgetown.

⢠Ten local players were selected to all-state tournament teams; and a record 11 Central Texas schools finished ranked in the top 10 in their respective classifications. Dripping Springs was No. 3 in 6ADII, Lake Travis was No. 5 in 6A DI, Vandegrift was No. 5 in 6A DII and Cedar Park was No. 5 in 5ADII to lead the way.
⢠In softball, Dripping Springs catcher Lorelei Gamble ā who's committed to the Texas Longhorns ā continues to lead the nation with 19 home runs.

The City of Round Rock lit the town water tank maroon in honor of the state champion Dragons, which beat Keller 3-1 in Saturday's championship game. The team rallied from an early 1-0 deficit to score three straight times.
Trailing 1-0, Grace El-Deir ā Round Rock's all-time leader in single-season goals ā took a pass from Aidan Hernandez and laced the tying goal midway through the first half. Hernandez scored the go-ahead penalty kick near the end of the half to give the Dragons a 2-1 edge at the break. Hernandez added her second goal with a little more than 10 minutes left for the final score.
Dragons goalkeeper Lucy Grazecki had a solid day patrolling the back line as the Dragons' young defense clamped down after Keller's early goal.
Hernandez, El-Deir, Phia Hull and Audrey Redus were selected to all-state tournament team. Hernandez was named championship match MVP.
Wimberley rules in 4A DII
Wimberley blanked Sunnyvale 3-0 to win the Class 4A DII championship as sisters Emma and Abby Durkin both scored along with Samantha Santana. The Texans dominated the contest with a 13-7 advantage in shots on goal and a clear midfield ball dominance.
The Durkins, Lilli Sandoval and Jordin Donaldson were Wimberley all-state tournament selections. Emma Durkin was named championship match MVP.
"It was a dream come true," Texans coach Eric Nichols said.

District 26-6A:Ā Dripping Springs' Alex Wiatrek had two hits, scored two runs and drove in another in a 5-3 win over Weiss ā a non-district, out-of-classification friendly between the Tigers, who are leading District 26-6A, and the Wolves, who are on top of District 23-5A. Dripping Springs scored four first-inning runs and Sadie Bradford pitched a complete game, giving up seven hits and fanning five. ... In 26-6A, Dripping Springs is in first place at 11-0 while Bowie is 8-3, Austin High and Lake Travis are both 5-5 and Westlake is 4-6.
District 25-6A: Vista Ridge and Hutto remain deadlocked at the top of the standings with Round Rock third. The Rangers blasted Vandegrift 16-4 as Ella Santos, Kristy Yepez and Jaylee Agnew had three hits each and the Ranges banged out 20 hits in all. Santos and Agnew drove in three runs each. ... Hutto kept pace by beating Cedar Ridge 18-6 while Stony Point blanked McNeil 15-0.
District 23-5A: Weiss leads the district after beating Georgetown 10-0 on Friday. Elgin beat Pflugerville 17-5 and last Tuesday, Hendrickson clipped Georgetown 9-4 as Kara Luongo pitched a seven-inning complete game with eight striketouts and scattered seven hits.
District 24-5A: McCallum is leading 24-5A with a 13-0 mark while LASA is 10-2. Bastrop and Crockett are tied at 8-5 and Anderson is 7-6. ... McCallum's Natalie Myrick is hitting .512 with 14 RBIs. ... Crockett had a huge 10-2 win over Bastrop as Adola Moore slammed three hits and drove in a pair of runs while scoring twice.
District 25-5A: Leander leads 25-5A with an 11-1 mark, just ahead of Hays at 10-2. Liberty Hill is 8-3 while Rouse is 5-6 and Cedar Park is 5-7.
District 25-4A: Lago Vista leads 25-4A with a 12-0 mark followed by Manor New Tech at 10-2. ... Smithville is 8-0 and leading District 22-4A with Bellville at 7-1 in second place.
