Reports have continued to indicate that the New Orleans Saints don't necessarily want to move on from Alvin Kamara.

While Kamara has been a nice player in New Orleans for a long time now, that doesn't always mean they should keep him.

The Saints are unfortunately in a position where they likely won't win in the foreseeable future, so moving on from older players with value would be the wise decision. It could hurt some fans in the short term, but this is the business side of the NFL.

He's currently viewed as the most likely trade candidate ahead of and during the NFL draft, and it's tough to argue with that.

“New Orleans Saints: RB Alvin Kamara Kamara will turn 31 in July, and the Saints seem to have found their new (and younger) lead back in free agency by signing Travis Etienne. Kamara had a rough 2025 season with a knee injury cutting things short, but he finished just shy of 1,500 scrimmage yards in 2024 with eight touchdowns. There are plenty of teams that should be enticed by a veteran running back with the kind of dual-threat abilities Kamara has,” Jack McKessy of USA TODAY wrote.

Kamara would be a nice addition for a contending team around the NFL, and there's still value in having him around in New Orleans. With the Saints looking to eventually be a competitive team, it's never a bad idea to have a guy who understands what it takes to play in the NFL with some of these youngsters. However, draft picks are often more important than that at this stage.
