Saka hoping ‘beautiful story’ ends in glory as Arsenal reach Champions League final
Bukayo Saka sent Arsenal back to the UEFA Champions League final for the first time in 20 years after scoring the winning goal against Atletico Madrid on Tuesday night.
The winger slipped the grasp of two defenders to tap in from close range after Jan Oblak could only parry Leandro Trossard’s shot back into the six-yard box.
The Gunners, who won 2-1 on aggregate over two legs, will now play the winner of Wednesday’s other semi-final between Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain in Budapest on 30th May.
Speaking to Amazon Prime after the final whistle in front of a raucous crowd at the Emirates Stadium, Saka said: “You’re taking me away from the celebrations, man! It is so beautiful. You see what it means to us and what it means to the fans.
“We’re so happy. Easier said than done. This game was a high-pressure game. It means a lot to both sides. We managed to manage it well, and take ourselves to the final. It started before the game when we were arriving on the coach. I have never seen anything like it.”
Saka showed impeccable timing and anticipation to find just enough space to score the decisive goal on the night.
Bukayo Saka scored the decisive goal against Atletico Madrid, securing a 2-1 aggregate victory.
The UEFA Champions League final will take place on May 30th in Budapest.
Arsenal will face the winner of the semi-final between Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain.

Arsenal’s season threatened to go off the rails after losing four times in six matches between mid-March and mid-April, but they are now on the cusp of winning both the Premier League and a first ever Champions League title.
“There is no way you are going to come to this position and not have pressure,” Saka added. “How can you not expect people to talk about you and criticise you? That’s why we have got to block it out.
“It is a beautiful story and I hope it ends well in Budapest.”
