Jadon Sancho has given the green light to a return to Borussia Dortmund this summer.
Sancho is set to become a free agent when his contract at Manchester United expires in the summer. He has spent the past two-and-a-half seasons out on loan, first with Dortmund and Chelsea, before joining Aston Villa for the 2025/26 campaign.
The winger has failed to do enough to persuade Villa to pursue a deal permanently, and a third spell at Dortmund now looks a concrete option.
Sancho has agreed in principle to return to the German side, despite rival offers, and is prepared to take a significant salary cut to facilitate the move. The 26-year-old has produced the best football of his career at the Westfalenstadion, where he returned 120 goals and assists in 158 games over two spells.
Sky Germany are reporting that the decision now rests on Dortmund, who have held initial exploratory talks with Sanchoâs camp. Head coach Niko Kovac is keen to bring the winger back to the club, and a final decision will rest with managing director Lars Ricken.
A return to Germany would end an unhappy period in the Premier League for Sancho. Heâs scored just 12 goals in 109 games in the Premier League, across three different clubs, since leaving Dortmund in a ÂŁ72m deal in 2021.
