Sarah Coelho: “We’re ready to make the final and book a World Cup spot”

With the end of the South American Championship group stage, the Brazil Women’s U-17 National Team is focused on the tournament semifinal. The team coached by Rilany Silva will face Chile on Wednesday (6), and if they advance to the final, they will have already secured a spot in the World Cup. Midfielder Sarah Coelho said the team is ready for every challenge in the competition.

“We are very focused on our six missions, which are our goals. I’m sure we are all very united. There is always joy and boldness on the field, we know what we have to do, and we are definitely ready to get through the semifinal, go to the final, and secure our place in the World Cup,” she said.

The player also spoke about what it feels like to represent Brazil. For her, it is a source of great honor and gratitude.

“Representing Brazil is always a reason for gratitude. Gratitude to God and gratitude to my family. I don’t represent just one nation, but all the girls who have the same dream as me. It is a great honor to be representing the National Team.”

AN INSPIRING JOURNEY

In an exclusive interview with CBF TV, Sarah detailed her entire journey to reach the Brazilian National Team today. A native of Cuiabá, in Mato Grosso, the midfielder said she started out playing with boys until she received an invitation to try out at Centro Olímpico in São Paulo.

At first, she and her parents traveled back and forth to the state capital once a month, but when the offer from São Paulo came, she had to move there for good. In the first month, Sarah stayed by herself because her mother was pregnant with her younger brother, but soon the family joined the player, and today they all live together. Sarah highlighted how much her family’s support helped her pursue her dream.
