SARANAC — After Plattsburgh High tied the game in the top of second, Saranac went on an 8-0 run en route to a 10-3 victory Saturday.
Gracie Baxter scattered eight hits that the Hornets were unable to string together to cause much damage.
PHS’ Marlie Walker had the only extra base hit for her team. Teammates Olivia LaMountain and Kiley Kretser had two hits each, as did Saranac’s Irelyn Ryan and Maddie Gagnier.
“Plattsburgh did a good job of putting balls in play but just unable to group hits together to create more,” Spartan coach Sam Campbell said. “We hit several balls well but with no luck. The sun and wind made the ball interesting at times.”

Chazy 7, NAC 6
CHAZY — Chazy and NCC kicked off the day with the first game of the Kennedy Columbus Memorial Tournament.
All four games were five innings long to make sure players were well rested between contests.
Games two and three, NCCS vs. Peru and Peru vs. NAC, were not reported.

Both pitchers struck out two each. Dumas gave up only one hit and Turek gave up four.
“Peyton Turek pitched a great game in her first varsity start,” Chazy head coach Cory Thompson said. “My girls hung tough against a very well coached NCCS team.”
Game 4
Both NAC and Chazy had eight hits each as the Eagles closed out the tournament with a 7-6 victory.
They needed all the runs they could get as the Bobcats scored four in the top of the fifth to make things interesting.
“Emma Howell and Ella Thew played well for us defensively,” Thompson said. “Stephanie Barriere was once again great for us in the pitching circle, and catcher Aubrey Bechard made a key out in the last inning to hold NAC off the board.”
Barriere struck out three over five innings as her counterpart Grace Cook struck out one.
Peru would finish the day 2-0. NCCS and Chazy went 1-1 with NAC going 0-2 in play.
“We want to thank Peru, NCCS and NAC for participating in our tournament,” Thompson said. “This was an amazing day of softball as we remember an amazing softball player, Kennedy Columbus. We wish these teams success for the rest of the season.”
