I was in the Northwest Stadium tunnels when Jayden Daniels sent a high volley skyward towards the end zone, furiously typing what I assumed would be a Bears victory recap for the Chicago media outlet I worked for. There was a postgame show to join right after the clocks ran out, offering no time to walk towards the field and watch the final play.
Chicago, it sure seemed, had this one wrapped up. My ears heard otherwise. Absolute silence filled the air for 12.7 seconds while Daniels scrambled through the backfield, looking for a time to launch. It was replaced by a deafening roar as gravity brought Danielsā pass down to earth, right into Noah Brownās arms.
I couldnāt see what had happened live, but I could feel it. The passion. The energy. The commitment to the Commanders. All that was expressed in sound.
I knew then that this place could be special. The connection between this team and its fan base is unique. When fan faith is rewarded with smart decisions and quality play, the bond strengthens and fortifies the entire region.
Thatās why I jumped at the opportunity to serve this fan base as Hogs Haven team site producer. Thatās how I view my role here, as one of service. I want to provide the information you need in the style that you want, whether you read long stories or prefer your news to come as a video or in 280 characters. Whether you like news or film breakdowns or mailbags or features, weāre going to do it all.
This site is all about the fans, a community of Commanders faithful that truly cares about this team. Iām always accessible, through the comments or The Feed or on social (@ScottBairNFL on X and Instagram). Our talented group of writers will be, too, as we continue the coverage you already like and expand our offerings with you in mind.
The Commanders are in an interesting space, two years removed from an NFC title game and fresh off a disappointing 5-12 campaign full of lopsided losses. Where will they go from here?
Weāll chronicle that journey every step of the way, with the objective journalism youāll get from someone with 18 years of NFL experience, covering the Chargers, Raiders, Falcons and Bears, and the understanding that sports are supposed to be fun. Hogs Haven is a spot where your voice will be heard. Join us each day, if you donāt already, for comprehensive coverage of the team you love.
Iām so excited to get started. Letās raise some hail.
