The Seattle Seahawks have signed former Cowboys EDGE Dante Fowler to a one-year deal worth up to $5 million. This move aims to enhance their pass rush after not addressing EDGE needs in the 2026 NFL draft.
The Seattle Seahawks made a move to bolster their pass rush. After intentionally neglecting EDGE help during the 2026 NFL draft, the thought process became "oh, the Seahawks must feel they can get help here elsewhere." On Tuesday morning, they proved this line of thinking correct. Seattle signed former Dallas Cowboys linebacker Dante Fowler to a one-year deal worth up to $5 million dollars. This news was broken by NFL insider Tom Pelissero.
Fowler visited the Seahawks' organization before the draft in mid-April, as we at Seahawks Wire previously noted. Clearly, the meeting went well, as Seattle now has the former No. 3 overall pick from the 2015 NFL draft in their ranks. He is now reunited with his former defensive line coach from Dallas, Aden Durde, who is of course now the Seahawks' defensive coordinator. Additionally, he will once again be playing alongside DeMarcus Lawrence as well.
The 2026 campaign will be his 11th in the NFL, but don't expect his age to slow him down too much. Fowler had 10.5 sacks as recently as 2024 with the Washington Commanders, and still had three last season for the Cowboys in all 17 games played - including 11 starts. With the loss of Boye Mafe to the Bengals in free agency, I suspect Fowler will fill that rotational role just fine, allowing Seattle to have the same kind of firepower on their defensive line as they did last season when they won Super Bowl LX.
