The Seattle Seahawks had a few key positions to address after the first wave of the 2026 NFL offseason. They lost a few key players in free agency, including Kenneth Walker III, Coby Bryant, Riq Woolen, and Boye Mafe.
In the NFL Draft, they added a running back, a cornerback, and a safety to fill all but the hole Mafe left behind. And now, over a week after the draft, Seattle has their new edge rusher depth.
According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, the Seahawks are signing former Dallas Cowboys and Washington Commanders edge rusher to a one-year, $5 million contract.
Dante Fowler Jr. is signing a one-year contract worth $5 million with the Seattle Seahawks.
Before joining the Seahawks, Dante Fowler Jr. played for the Dallas Cowboys and the Washington Commanders.
The Seahawks needed to sign a new edge rusher to fill the gap left by Boye Mafe and other key players lost in free agency.

"Veteran edge rusher Dante Fowler Jr. is signing with the Seahawks on a one-year deal worth up to $5 million, per sources," Pelissero reports.
This signing for the Seahawks makes a ton of sense. They had interest before the NFL Draft, and then afterwards, they brought him in for a free agent visit.
Not long after that visit, the Seahawks decided to sign the veteran edge, agreeing to his $5 million contract with the long-time edge rusher.
The veteran edge rusher has been in the NFL for some time, beginning his career in 2016 with the Jacksonville Jaguars before leaving for the Los Angeles Rams in a trade.
He's played in 10 seasons, but has been in the NFL for 11, as he missed his entire rookie season due to injury.
Fowler brings his career 58.5 sacks to Seattle to give Mike Macdonald some quality depth at edge rusher, and a veteran presence where Mafe once stood to round out their defense for the 2026 season.
