The SEC Baseball Power Rankings for Week 5 highlight three standout teams, although the conference is not as dominant this season compared to others. Despite its elite status, the SEC may struggle to secure multiple national seeds in the upcoming NCAA Tournament.
Some Southeastern Conference baseball seasons see the SEC as, by far, the most dominant league in the sport. But 2026 isn't one of those seasons.
Of course, it's all relative as the conference remains elite and may still be the best in the nation. It's just that no group of five or six teams has taken to being so good in the regular season so far as to make it clear the SEC will get three or four national seeds some NCAA Tournament time.
Halfway through the SEC, there are a clear three teams ahead of the rest and the, per usual, the middle of the league remains strong, with every team beating up on one another. And while there's still team for the cream to rise, this may be the season the league fails to make it to the promised land.
With that in mind, let's check out how the teams are faring against the others in the Week 5 SEC Baseball Power Rankings.
16. Missouri Tigers
After winning just three games in league play last year, Missouri has already reached that threshold through 15 games. But it's just that threshold. A sweep at the hands of the No. 15 team on this list is proof positive the Tigers belong here.
15. South Carolina Gamecocks
The Gamecocks entered Week 5 with just two SEC wins, but sweeping Missouri has put South Carolina just two games back five teams the conference, three of which are ranked. It would take some luck down the stretch, but the conference tournament remains a possibility.
14. LSU Tigers

LSU is on the verge of finishing below .500 in SEC play for third time in the last six seasons. Before going 13-17 in 2021, the Tigers hadn't had a losing record in the league since 2011. They're far from bad, but "disappointing" is the most apt word for the year.
13. Kentucky Wildcats
Getting blasted by Auburn in two of three a week after losing two of three to Missouri is a bad, bad look. In fact, Kentucky has fallen like a rock after opening SEC play with a sweep against Alabama. Zero series wins since.
12. Vanderbilt Commodores
Dropping a series at home to a struggling Oklahoma team was a bit of a disappointment for the Commodores. The final two games of the set were lost by just one run apiece, though, so it's hardly indicative of Vandy's future chances. Still, wins will be important to come by down the stretch.
11. Oklahoma Sooners

Oklahoma picked up a much-needed SEC series win after losing its previous three series. The fight now is to make it into the top half of the conference so as to have a good chance at hosting a Regional. The Sooners aren't there yet.
10. Tennessee Volunteers
Is Tennessee good? Bad? In-between? The Volunteers had dropped five of their last six SEC games before the weekend's series sweep against then No. 9 (in the nation, not the SEC) Mississippi State in Starkville. Win five of the next six, though, and it'll be time to consider the Vols legitimate contenders again.
9. Mississippi State Bulldogs
Woof. What in the world is going on at MSU? The Tennessee sweep came one week after a sweep at the hands of Georgia. Those two came after sweeps *against* Ole Miss and Vanderbilt. Mississippi State isn't the No. 9 team in the nation, certainly, but they're also not as bad as the last two week's worth of results have made them look, either.
8. Ole Miss Rebels

Ole Miss must be feeling strong. The Rebels swept LSU over the weekend after taking two of three from Florida the week before.
7. Arkansas Razorbacks
No team in the SEC needed a sweep more than Arkansas. Not for standings purposes, mind you, but because Razorbacks fans are used to finishing top four in the SEC. The team hasn't played that way so far, but taking all three against Alabama on the road was mighty impressive.
6. Alabama Crimson Tide
Alabama is 8-1 in three SEC series and 0-6 in another two. The bummer for the Crimson Tide is that they could very well fall under .500 after this weekend's series against Texas. Or, who knows, they could be 11-7, instead.
5. Florida Gators

The Gators lose just enough to make outsiders think the team isn't elite. And maybe they're not. But at 27-10 and 9-6, it's hard to see Florida not hosting a Regional in the NCAA Tournament at this point. Would you really be surprised if it makes it as a national seed, even? Us, neither.
You could argue for the Tigers below a few teams on this list that have already been named. But while they're not sweeping teams in SEC play, they're racking up series victories and that's an important step in hosting in the postseason.
The only thing that saved Texas from being swept by arch-rival Texas A&M over the weekend was the weather. Instead of lording over the rest of the SEC in the standings had the tables been turned, the Longhorns have been slowed. Still, we're talking about one of the five or six best teams in the country.
2. Texas A&M Aggies
The Aggies may be behind Texas still in the national polls, but good luck finding a more frightening team to play against right now. After taking both games against the Longhorns over the weekend, A&M has its eyes cast forward yet again.
1. Georgia Bulldogs

It wasn't that long ago, really, that Georgia saw itself on the other end of these rankings. But coach Wes Johnson, in his third season, is putting together a third straight year that sees the Bulldogs ranked in the top 10 nationally and a threat to win the national championship. Impressive turnaround.
