The Oklahoma City Thunder opened its Western Conference Semifinals series against the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday night. The Thunder pulled away to protect homecourt in Game 1, but not everyone was pleased with Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
SGA has become a master of drawing the foul, but after a video was compiled of him âfoul-baitingâ early in Game 1 against Los Angeles, fans voiced some concern that perhaps heâs taking things too far, even though he wasnât necessarily being granted the same friendly whistle he might during a regular-season game.

âHeâs an all-time great who doesnât need to do this [expletive] and doesnât do it as often as people claim, but this [expletive] is terrible dawg,â someone else added.
âDoes anyone enjoy watching this brand of hoop?â one fan asked.
Fans arenât the only ones taking umbrage with SGAâs savvy moves to get to the line. During the regular season, Celtics star Jaylen Brown gavehim credit for his game, but acknowledged he doesnât like the way he goes about getting to the line.
âShaiâs nice. Nice as f**k,âBrown said during a live stream, via Fadeaway World. âI donât like the foul-baiting s**t. But Shaiâs nice.â

âItâs the difference between drawing a foul and then flopping. Flopping is like acting like you got hit and you didnât get hit. If you got fouled, you got fouled,â Brown added.
As bad as it may look aesthetically, if the NBA continues to have a tight whistle, itâs on Gilgeous-Alexander to take advangtage of it to help his team win.
